Short-Term Running Goals:

My short-term running goal is primarily to just establish a 'running lifestyle.'  I was a high-level track athlete in high school, but post high school...I really didn't continue running at all.  Over the years, I became less and less active and became more and more out of shape and more overweight.

In July of 2014, I discovered running again...and after struggling to get my body to cooperate, I began conditioning my body to run further and further.

It is my goal to just continue running.  I want to continue losing weight and establishing a healthy lifestyle so I feel better and can do the things I want to do with my children.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Eventually, I want to build my running base up to the point that I can run a marathon.

Personal:

I am married with 7 amazing children.  My oldest are 17-year-old twins boys who are seniors this year (2014/15) at Bountiful High School, and my youngest is a charismatic 4-year-old.

Warmed up with a .5 mile walk...then ran 3 miles at an easy pace (approx. 10:15/mile).  I felt good.  No hip pain.  My cardio and aerobic conditioning felt good.  I didn't get winded or cramps.  After the 3 miles, I cooled down with another .5 mile walk.

Overall, it was the first time I have run completely pain-free since my stress reaction.  I hope I'm back to 100%.  I guess we'll see.

1/4 mile warm-up walk...then a 3 mile run at an easy 9:44 min/mile pace...followed by a 1/2 mile cool-down walk.  My hip/femur still feels good.  No pain.  Still hesitant to run anything longer than 3 miles yet...and maybe my body needs to stay around 3 miles for a couple of weeks to prepare my muscles and bones for longer distances.  I'm feeling a little apprehensive because I absolutely don't want a recurring injury that takes me off the streets for another 4-5 weeks.

I think I need to sign up for a 5 or 10k...and get on a structured training plan for those runs.

1/4 mile warm-up walk....followed by another 3-mile run...with a 3/4 mile cool-down walk.  My pace was a little better today.  Still easy...but 9:38/mile.  I'm feeling stronger...and still no pain in my hip/femur.  I should probably take a recovery day tomorrow.

Feeling more confident each day I run with no pain.  I'm anxious to get back up to 30-35 miles a week.
